'EVOLUTION' 1995, bronze, H cm 20 to 40

One features a theatre of monkeys and shades: it is crowded by animals, single or couples. Their shades project echoes of plots and personalities, which can be traced to famous films like Gone With the Wind, on the walls. We thus have the folly monkeying the stars, the heroes, the shades. But this installation, pictorial as well as sculptural, can also be interpreted as a declaration of critical awareness. The monkeys which play, simulating the life in the movies, are perfectly aware that they are in their turn imagined by others, simulated by their Italian sculptor.    Tommaso Trini
